Plum Creek & The Community
Plum Creek's plan was developed in Maine — by Maine people — over a four-year period, and that process relied heavily upon community involvement and participation, most notably from the many public comments and suggestions we received about how best to accomplish this ambitious goal. The towns of Greenville, Rockwood and Jackman are now at a crossroads. These communities are coping with numerous challenges, including significant job losses, dwindling populations, and a lack of both affordable housing and economic opportunities. Detailed information about Moosehead's communities may be found by visiting "The Region" page on this site or simply click here: The Region Increasing pressure from outside forces — such as fragmented, haphazard development and manufacturing job losses — is reinforcing the region's economic downward spiral and threatens to destroy Moosehead's unique and remote characteristics. This is a critical juncture in Moosehead's history, and the region's future depends upon the community's commitment to protecting and preserving its greatest assets without jeopardizing its unique economic opportunities. Thus, Plum Creek's plan will become the framework for developing a lasting legacy; a legacy of conservation and new economic opportunity that will ensure Moosehead's enduring traditions for future generations. Plum Creek considers itself a partner with our neighboring communities. In 2005, Plum Creek donated more than $200,000 to dozens of community organizations throughout Maine, including the C.A. Dean Community Hospital in Greenville, one of the region's most important and vital infrastructure assets. To learn more about our company, please click on the links below: |
